LESSONS

Our focus is on horse lovers of all ages seeking introductory instruction aimed at bolstering confidence and establishing a solid foundation.

 

We cater to riders ranging from individuals who have never mounted a horse to those aiming to reintegrate into the equestrian community, nurturing their love for riding, self-assurance, and expertise.

We take pride in delivering safe, supportive instruction with a strong educational framework, fostering a family-friendly atmosphere.

Our one-hour private lessons offer individualized attention to ensure riders develop the knowledge and skills necessary to be successful. Lessons can be held either English or Western, dependent on comfort and preference of rider.

Levels

Beginner​

​

Riders Learn:

​

  • Safety Orientation

    • Riders learn about basic safety rules around horses, how to approach and handle them safely, and the importance of appropriate riding gear such as helmets and boots

​

  • Horsemanship & Care

    • Riders will learn how to properly groom, tack up, and lead a horse

​

  • Safely Mounting & Dismounting

    • Riders practice proper mounting/dismounting techniques and learn how to adjust stirrups and reins for comfort and control​​

​

  • Introduction to Gaits

    • ​Riders learn how to maintain control, rhythm, and balance while riding at different speeds and transitions between walk and trot, depending on comfort of rider​

​

  • Fundamental Riding Skills
    • Riders are taught fundamental skills such as proper seat, body position, balance, and use of aids (legs, seat, hands) to communicate with the horse; they begin with simple walking exercises, focusing on maintaining balance and control at a slow pace​

​

  • Steering & Control
    • As riders gain confidence and balance, they progress to learning how to steer and stop the horse using reins and leg aids; they practice basic steering exercises such as circles, patterns, and halting the horse on command​

Advanced Beginner

Riders Learn:

  • Horsemanship & Care

    • Riders learn to care for their mounts before and after riding sessions, fostering a deeper connection and responsibility towards the horse​

​

  • Building Confidence

    • Lessons are designed to build rider confidence by gradually introducing new challenges and experiences in a supportive, controlled environment; riders are encouraged to step out of their comfort zones while feeling supported by their instructor​

​

  • Refinement of Aids

    • Riders continue to refine their use of aids including leg, seat, and rein to communicate effectively with the horse, and how to apply these aids with precision to cue the horse for specific movements and transitions​

​

  • (Beginner) Advanced Riding Techniques

    • Riders learn more advanced techniques such as posting trot, sitting trot, navigating obstacles at various gaits; riders learn to improve balance, posture, and overall coordination​

​

  • Understanding Horse Behavior

    • Riders deepen their understanding of horse behavior and body language; they learn how to anticipate the horse's reactions and adjust their own actions accordingly to maintain harmony and communication with the horse​
