Michelle Sedlatschek

Owner of Winding Creek Stable LLC

I've had a passion for horses since a very young age. I began riding lessons when I was nine years old, and eventually progressed to owning my own horse at age 13. I was on the Rutgers University Equestrian Team in college while earning an Animal Science degree, and continued riding/jumping into early adulthood. Once I had a family, I was able to introduce them into the horse world. The most perfect pony was the key to continuing a lifetime involvement with horses - now with my daughter!

We've been involved in everything under the sun, from 4-H to hunter/jumper shows at The World Equestrian Center, to polo clinics and eventing, trail rides and bareback swimming, to trailering across many state borders and training on the ground to in the saddle. We have learned an incredible amount over the years, and in addition to holding an RN and MSN in nursing education, I am confident in our ability to provide expert care here at Winding Creek!

I've been around horses since the age of four, starting with an old barrel racing pony that quickly became my soulmate; we would literally do everything together. I would read her books after school every day, tie rainbow ribbons in her mane - it was the ultimate little girl/pony relationship. My older sister and I learned that if one of us walked Bambi to the very back edge of the pasture, and the other waited in the barn with a feed scoop, that Bambi would run clear across the field with one lucky kid on her back just for a handful of sweet feed. We did this for hours.

Since then, I've had the opportunity to own and ride some pretty amazing horses, all of which taught me valuable take-home advice. I've dipped my toes into hunter/jumpers, eventing, dressage, polo (for funsies...it was a day), mounted drill team (again, for a day), barrel racing (County Fair fun classes count, right?), driving, showjumping, and foal-to-sale prep / management through Ohio State.

I participated in 4-H for over 12 years, starting with my first pony showmanship classes, moving up to winning state dressage classes and later to interning with Ohio State Extension in college. I have assisted with show  management from local fairs to the Quarter Horse Congress in college, and actively plan on pursuing show management in my professional career. My latest riding endeavors have entailed showjumping and eventing with my warmblood, Rosie, and plan to pursue my USDF bronze medal in dressage over the next few years. It's been a crazy 20+ years in the horse world, & I have zero intention of ever quitting!
